- The "Lazy Factor": Let’s be honest—if it’s raining, you might not bother closing the gate behind you. A gate left open offers zero security.
- Inconvenience: It adds time to your departure and arrival.
Automated (Electric) Gates: The Modern Upgrade
Automation involves adding motors (either underground or rams on the back of the gate) to open and close them via a fob, keypad, or even your phone.

If you choose automated gates, safety is not optional. In the UK, automated gates are classified as "machines." This means they must have safety edges (to stop if they hit a car or person) and photocells.

Can I Automate My Existing Gate?
Sometimes. If you have a high-quality, sturdy timber or metal gate with good hinges, we might be able to retrofit motors. However, cheap panel gates are usually too flimsy to handle the torque of a motor pushing and pulling them—they will warp and snap.
